Job Overview
The assigned aircraft mechanic (A&P) maintains the airframe and engines of a UH-1H to meet FAA 14 CFR and USFS contract requirements. This involves tasks such as performing routine checks, inspections, maintenance and identifying faults with the aircraft and correcting those faults. The mechanic is responsible for ensuring the aircraft meets type design and is in a condition for safe operation. This job is seasonal.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Inspect and examine aircraft components, (including de-icing systems, hydraulic systems and landing gear,) for leaks, cracks, breaks and/or other issues
- Read and utilize blueprints, maintenance manuals, ATA codes, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins and other maintenance documents to troubleshoot and complete work assignments
- Perform routine maintenance operations, per factory Maintenance Manuals, CR & O’s
- Complete all tasks in the allotted time frame and to the quality standards of our company, the FAA, and manufacturer.
- Promote safety within the workplace by monitoring others and yourself to guarantee all tasks are performed within the safety manual guidelines, and communicate with other mechanics and supervisors to coordinate repairs and keep apprised of safety concerns
- Order supplies, equipment, materials and parts for repairs and general maintenance as approved
- Keep detailed records of the inspections performed, repairs finished, maintenance procedures and ordered parts.
- Responsible for the reasonable care and organization of tools and associated equipment
- Maintain a functional level of cleanliness and organization of base facilities
- Inventory parts and equipment carried on job
Qualifications
(1) The mechanic shall have been actively engaged in aircraft maintenance as a certificated mechanic for at least 18-months out of the last 24-months; and meet one of the following criteria:
- The mechanic shall hold a valid FAA mechanic certificate with airframe and power plant ratings and shall have held the certificate for a period of 24-months.
- The mechanic shall hold a valid FAA mechanic certificate with airframe and power plant ratings and shall have held the certificate for a period of 12 months and the mechanic must show evidence of Four years military experience of aircraft maintenance training and qualification as a Technical Inspector (30 Level USA, 7 Level USAF, CDI or QAR USMC/USN, etc.) for Airframe or Power Plants.
- The mechanic shall hold a valid FAA mechanic certificate with airframe and power plant ratings and shall have held the certificate for a period of 12 months and the mechanic shall show evidence of holding foreign equivalent with both ratings for a period of 24 months.
(2) The mechanic shall have 12-months experience as an Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) mechanic or foreign equivalent in maintaining helicopters. Three months experience shall have been in the last 2 years.
(3) The mechanic shall show evidence of maintaining a helicopter of the same make and model as offered:
- Under "field" conditions for at least three months.
- This requirement can be met by maintaining a helicopter away from the operator’s Principal Base of Operations, while under minimal supervision. If the operator provides an additional A&P mechanic for field experience training the additional A&P mechanic is not required to be carded, unless otherwise required in the contract.
(4) Mechanics shall show evidence of meeting at least one of the following on a helicopter of the same make and model offered:
- Satisfactorily completed a manufacturer's maintenance course
- Satisfactorily completed a USFS approved Contractor's training program
- The mechanic has 12-months maintenance experience
(5) The mechanics must have documented and show evidence of training in all the following subjects:
- Company policies and procedures
- Company operations procedures
- Maintenance procedures
- Contract requirements
- Fatigue management
- SMS
- Human Factors Training required by this contract
(6) Documented training on preceding training and courses must be submitted with mechanic application (Attachment 17) and a company representative, other than the mechanic in question, shall certify by signing the Aircraft Mechanic (Helicopter) Qualifications Form that each mechanic offered under this contract has met the minimum certification, training, and experience qualifications of this section.
(7) When requested by the Government, each Mechanic shall furnish a valid Interagency Mechanic Qualification card for review. The card shall be issued by the designated Interagency Maintenance Inspector for the duration of the Contract, including any optional periods. Should the mechanic leave the employment of the Contractor, the mechanic shall surrender the card to the Contractor upon termination of employment.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
